Best things to do in Maui

Marriott Wailea

The trip to get to Hawaii is long but worth it. I was fortunate to be able to visit Maui with my parents and we stayed at the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort.

We spent the first day checking out the beautiful hotel, relaxing, swimming and getting adjusted to the time difference.

Makena Beach

The next day, we visited Makena Beach, a.k.a. Big Beach, which was just a short drive from the hotel. It was a nice wide beach with beautiful turquoise water. Makena Beach was probably the prettiest of all the beaches we went to on Maui.

Kamaole Beach

We also checked out Kamaole Beach Park in Kihei. It was also nice, but I preferred Makena Beach.

Feast at Lele

Attending a luau is a must when visiting Hawaii, so we went to the Feast at Lele, an oceanfront Polynesian luau in Lahaina. They serve a variety of food and drinks that are enjoyed by the people of Hawaii, New Zealand, Tahiti and Samoa, as well as put on an entertaining show.

Snorkeling at Molokini

I love to snorkel and my favorite thing I did in Maui was go snorkeling at Molokini, a crescent-shaped volcanic crater that is partially underwater.

I had snorkeled many times before in the Caribbean, but this was my first time snorkeling in the Pacific Ocean and I was amazed by the different species of fish that I saw. There were some really beautiful and interesting ones. Molokini is up there with my favorite snorkeling experiences ever.

Our snorkeling excursion also made a stop at Turtle Town and we were able to snorkel with sea turtles, which was super cool.

Where to eat

If you’re hungry after your snorkel adventure, I recommend grabbing some fish tacos at Coconut’s Fish Cafe. We enjoyed it so much, we went there twice.

There were gorgeous flowers, palm trees and waterfalls all over the hotel grounds. It was a treat just to walk around and admire them.

Sunsets

Be sure to make time to watch a sunset or two while you’re in Maui. They were some of the prettiest I’ve seen.
