Georgetown Loop Railroad
Georgetown Loop Railroad
The historic Georgetown Loop Railroad, completed in 1884, is a fun and educational train ride through the Rocky Mountains in Georgetown, Colorado. All of the cars were open air when we went in October to comply with COVID protocols and we were spread out on the train. Masks are also required. They offer many departures throughout the day to fit your schedule, but I do recommend buying your tickets in advance.
The train departs from Devil’s Gate Station in Georgetown and goes to Silver Plume and then back to Devil’s Gate. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery on the train ride and also learn about the history of the area. There is an optional mine tour that can be added on if that interests you.
The train ride is very laid back and relaxed. I think all age groups would find it enjoyable.
I loved just taking in the scenery and breathing the fresh mountain air!
Georgetown
After the ride was over, we explored Georgetown a little bit. The fall colors were on full display and a delight to see. Georgetown was a cute, little town to check out and the trees were gorgeous!
