Fall foliage on the Peak to Peak Highway

Fall is my favorite and one of the reasons why is that I love seeing the leaves change colors. I was very excited for the chance to see amazing fall foliage during our trip to Colorado at the beginning of October.

Peak to Peak Highway

Upon arriving in Denver, we got a rental car and headed north on the Peak to Peak Highway toward Estes Park. Along the way, there were many photo ops with the aspens turning yellow and driving through the mountains.

Camp Saint Malo

We also saw lakes, rivers and canyons on our drive. One place you should stop and walk around is Camp Saint Malo, an old church, in Allenspark. The setting is stunning and you can visit the chapel during daytime hours.

Lily Lake

As we neared Estes Park, we came to breathtaking views on each side of the road. Twin Sisters to the right and Lily Lake to the left. Both have parking and are worth a stop to walk around and explore.

Elk in Estes Park

It was elk rutting season and we saw lots of elk just roaming the town once we got to Estes Park! It is definitely worth taking the scenic route if you are headed to Estes Park.
