Exploring Peekaboo Slot Canyon
Off the beaten path in Kanab, Utah, you will find Peekaboo Slot Canyon, also known as Red Canyon. To get to Peekaboo Canyon, you must first make your way through four miles of sand. I recommend going with TC Tours. They have the proper vehicles to get you there safely and will help you get great photos as you explore the canyon.
The hike is 0.7 miles roundtrip and flat, so most anyone could do it. There is just one place where you must climb up a ladder a few steps. Plus, you get the benefit of shade from being in the canyon.
Slot Canyons are super cool and this one in southern Utah is no exception. You can get really awesome photos with the sunlight coming through and spotlighting the rocks.
Our guides pointed out some neat star-shaped fossils in the rocks that were left from when the area was covered by water many years ago.
I was very excited to get to visit Peekaboo Canyon. I’ve seen photos of slot canyons for many years and this was a bonus stop on a longer tour that I took in April.
Which slot canyons have you visited? Check out Annie’s Canyon if you’re near San Diego.
