Wild West adventures in Jackson Hole
The town of Jackson, Wyoming, and the surrounding area of Jackson Hole offer stunning natural beauty and amazing outdoor activities throughout the year.
Head to the Jackson Town Square to see the famous elk antler arches on each corner. The National Elk Refuge is in Jackson Hole and the antlers are collected when the elk naturally shed them each spring.
For an adventure, head over to Spring Creek Ranch and go horseback riding with views of the Teton Range. It’s an experience to remember.
For an adventure on water, check out Dave Hansen River Trips. They offer whitewater rafting and scenic river trips down the Snake River.
I went on the scenic river trip and it was very calm, peaceful and suitable for all ages. We saw river otters, marmots and bald eagles on the journey.
For spectacular views of Jackson Hole, ride the Aerial Tram in Teton Village. The tram ascends over 4,000 feet to the summit in 12 minutes for breathtaking sights. There are also trails you can take at the top for hiking.
After you’ve worked up an appetite, head to the Bar T5 for Jackson Hole’s original chuck wagon dinner. Travel by a horse-drawn covered wagon through Cache Creek Canyon to camp for dinner and a show. It was really fun to ride in the covered wagon.
There are also plenty of good places to eat and shop on the square in Jackson, including: Hand Fire Pizza, Pinky G’s Pizzeria, Merry Piglet’s, Liberty Burger and Moo’s Ice Cream.
Be sure to check out the iconic Million Dollar Cowboy Bar for drinks, live music and dancing. We saw Nathan Dean & The Damn Band perform and they were great!
Check out more to do nearby in Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park.
