Top things to do in Los Angeles
Los Angeles has something for everyone from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood to the laid-back California beach vibes and sunny weather. We visited L.A. in the summertime and were able to get a taste of what the city has to offer.
After we ate, we walked down a path to El Matador Beach, which was nearby and had cool rock formations to explore.
Getty Villa
While you’re in Malibu, also check out the Getty Villa, which is a replica of an ancient Roman country house. There are lovely gardens to walk around, as well as a lot of ancient art on display throughout the villa.
Santa Monica Pier
Not too far from Malibu is the Santa Monica Pier. Make a stop there and take a ride on the Ferris wheel and merry go-round or visit the arcade.
Griffith Observatory
Griffith Observatory is “Southern California’s gateway to the cosmos.” You can look at the sky through telescopes, watch shows in the planetarium and take in amazing views of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign.
Hollywood
No visit to L.A. would be complete without taking a walk down Hollywood Boulevard and seeing the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, which opened in 1927 and is now the TCL Chinese Theatre, has hosted three Academy Award ceremonies and many movie premieres.
Paramount Pictures
We went on the Paramount Pictures Studio Tour and got to see where many famous movies and TV shows have been filmed, including “Forrest Gump,” “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” and more.
Warner Bros. Studio
We also went on the Warner Bros. Studio Tour and saw filming locations from television favorites “Friends” and the “Gilmore Girls.”
Beverly Hills
Head to Beverly Hills to see the beautiful palm-lined streets and do some window shopping on Rodeo Drive. Maybe you’ll even spot a celebrity!
Venice Beach
The Venice Beach Boardwalk is more than two miles long and has many vendors and performers. It’s a popular area for film productions. Also check out the body builders at the world famous Muscle Beach Venice gym and watch skaters at the skate park. And don’t leave before watching a spectacular sunset from the beach.
Getty Center
The Getty Center features pre-20th century European art and also has gorgeous gardens and views overlooking Los Angeles.
Hermosa Beach
For a relaxing day at the beach, we headed to Hermosa Beach, which has nearly two miles of oceanfront and 94 acres of public beach.
The Grove
The Grove is a popular shopping and dining spot in L.A. that’s in an open-air environment to enjoy the California sun.
I’d like to attend a Dodgers game or other sporting event on my next trip to L.A. What are your favorite things to do and places to eat in Los Angeles?
